From Our Job Notes

Repairs We’ve Carried Out in the Inner North

A few real jobs from Inner North homes — what the customer noticed, what was actually wrong, and how it was fixed.

Bosch washing machine, Hackett

What the customer saw: The washing machine displayed E18 and still wouldn’t drain after bobby pins were cleared from the filter.

What we found: The drain pump impeller was working intermittently.

What we did: Replaced the drain pump and tested filling, washing, draining and spinning. The washer tested OK.

Fisher & Paykel washer-dryer, Reid

What the customer saw: The washer-dryer displayed Err13 when starting a drying cycle.

What we found: The thermal cut-off had tripped, and the thermistor was giving erratic readings.

What we did: Reset the thermal cut-off, replaced the thermistor and ran a timed drying cycle. The unit heated and operated correctly.

Westinghouse dishwasher, Watson

What the customer saw: The dishwasher stopped draining and water leaked from the tub.

What we found: The drain spigot was blocked, and further testing showed the drain pump failing under load.

What we did: Cleared the blockage, replaced the drain pump and tested the filling and draining sequence. The dishwasher drained correctly.

Fisher & Paykel fridge, Braddon

What the customer saw: Water was leaking from the freezer section, though it was still cooling and freezing.

What we found: Ice had blocked the freezer drain port and formed a sheet across the freezer base.

What we did: Cleared the ice and drain with steam, then poured water through to confirm it drained away.

Siemens induction cooktop, O’Connor

What the customer saw: The cooktop glass was broken.

What we found: Along with the damaged glass, the active and neutral connections had been wired the wrong way round.

What we did: Replaced the glass, corrected the wiring and tested the heating zones, controls and pan detection. The cooktop tested OK.

Blanco rangehood, Ainslie

What the customer saw: The rangehood motor wasn’t working.

What we found: The lights worked but the motor only hummed, and the motor capacitor gave an excessively high reading.

What we did: Replaced the capacitor and tested the fan from high to low. It ran at every speed.

Examples from individual jobs. Similar symptoms can have different causes; diagnosis confirms the repair required.

What We Repair

Appliance Services & Brands in the Inner North

All carried out at your home or property. Each service page covers common faults, costs and what to expect.

Microwaves, vacuums, air fryers and KitchenAid mixers are repaired at our Fyshwick workshop rather than in your home — see small appliance repairs. Running a business laundry? See commercial laundry repairs.

Brands

Recent Inner North jobs have included Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Westinghouse, Siemens and Blanco appliances — and we work on most other brands sold in Australia, as long as parts are still available for the model.
