From Our Job Records
What We’ve Found Diagnosing Liebherr Error Codes
These are codes and displays from our own Liebherr jobs around Canberra and what we found when diagnosing them. MA001 has had several different outcomes in our jobs, so diagnosis always comes first. If you have a code, tell us when you book — it helps us prepare for the visit.
| Code | Appliance | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| MA001 | Integrated freezers with ice makers, including SIFNh 5188 and the EGN 9271 Monolith | An ice-maker fault. In our jobs: an ice maker that failed its movement and reset tests (replaced), ice freezing at the intake (fixed with Liebherr’s service kit), and frost building around the ice maker (ice maker and rear board replaced). Once, it had cleared by itself before we arrived. |
| “— —” display | Freezers | Shown when the freezer hadn’t reached its set temperature. In our case the cause was a sealed-system blockage — specialist work we don’t carry out in the home, so we advised on repair or replacement. |

Liebherr Repairs We’ve Carried Out
A few real Liebherr jobs from around Canberra — what the customer noticed, what was actually wrong, and how it was fixed.
Liebherr integrated fridge-freezer, Yarralumla
What the customer saw: The fridge door would not close properly without an extra push.
What we found: Faulty upper and lower door hinges. Testing with the freezer’s closing strut made no difference.
What we did: Replaced both fridge-door hinges, with two technicians handling the integrated door panel, and confirmed the door closed softly by itself.
Liebherr integrated French-door fridge, Googong
What the customer saw: Problems with the ice maker and ice forming at the bottom of the freezer.
What we found: The ice-maker sensor was hanging loose, with its insulating foam and retaining clip missing — causing the tray to empty before the water froze.
What we did: Replaced the ice tray, foam and clip assembly. Tested water delivery and ice-maker rotation successfully, and advised monitoring.
Liebherr integrated dual-zone wine fridge, Gordon
What the customer saw: The bottom section repeatedly froze over.
What we found: The door seals and fan were working, but the lower-section temperature sensor needed replacement.
What we did: Replaced the sensor and tested the unit. The temperature began moving towards its setting, and the customer was advised to monitor it.
Liebherr integrated fridge-freezer, Yarralumla
What the customer saw: Water leaking from the fridge section.
What we found: A blocked drainage port.
What we did: Cleared the port with a drain snake, then poured water through to confirm it reached the drip pan, and advised monitoring for further leakage.
Liebherr freestanding upright freezer, Downer
What the customer saw: Intermittent temperature changes, a critical-temperature warning and ice cubes clumping together.
What we found: Liebherr’s Australian technical support (Andi-Co) identified a model-specific need for an upgraded defrost heater.
What we did: Installed the supplied upgrade components after a manual defrost. The customer then confirmed the freezer was cooling again.
Liebherr integrated freezer, Bruce
What the customer saw: No ice production and a recurring MA001 error.
What we found: The ice maker would not respond to service-mode commands or reset its arm. The error remained after fitting Andi-Co’s service update kit.
What we did: Replaced the complete ice maker. On restarting, no error codes were displayed; the customer was advised to monitor operation.
Examples from individual jobs. Similar symptoms can have different causes; diagnosis confirms the repair required.

Who Turns Up
Local Technicians You Can Trust
GBRS has been repairing appliances for Canberra homes since 2015, from a base in Fyshwick. The person at your door is one of our own technicians — not a subcontractor you've never heard of.
The people who turn up
Qualified, and kept current
Our team spans degree-qualified engineers, electricians, electronics specialists and multiple Cert IV qualifications. We work from Liebherr’s current parts books and service manuals, and as an authorised agent we can go to Liebherr’s Australian distributor, Andi-Co, when an appliance needs it.
Reviews we don't get to write
Every completed GBRS job triggers a feedback request through ServiceM8, and this feed is what comes back — across every appliance type and brand we repair. We don't write the reviews, pick which ones appear or take any down.
