From Our Job Notes

Repairs We’ve Carried Out in the Inner South

A few real jobs from Inner South homes — what the customer noticed, what was actually wrong, and how it was fixed.

Samsung washing machine, Deakin

What the customer saw: The washing machine tripped the circuit mid-cycle, then every time it was switched on.

What we found: The heating element had earth leakage — with it disconnected, the circuit stopped tripping.

What we did: Replaced the heating element, tested the machine and checked for leaks around the new part. It operated correctly.

Esatto dryer, Griffith

What the customer saw: The dryer’s drum wasn’t turning.

What we found: The drum belt had snapped. The motor and tension wheel checked OK.

What we did: Replaced the drum belt and tested the dryer, including drum rotation and warm air. It operated correctly.

Smeg dishwasher, Kingston

What the customer saw: The dishwasher was dripping at the base.

What we found: A faulty door lock was stopping the door latching properly, which caused the leak.

What we did: Replaced the door lock and tested the dishwasher, which operated correctly.

Samsung fridge, Barton

What the customer saw: Water was leaking from the fridge section.

What we found: The leak was coming from the water tank’s hose connections. The fridge drain was clear.

What we did: Replaced the water tank assembly and hoses, primed the filter and tested for leaks. There were none.

Glem oven, Narrabundah

What the customer saw: The oven door wasn’t closing properly.

What we found: The door hinges were worn.

What we did: Replaced the hinges and tested the door. It closed and sealed properly.

Falmec rangehood, Yarralumla

What the customer saw: The rangehood lights wouldn’t turn on, and there was a clicking sound.

What we found: Power was reaching the lights but they weren’t lighting up. The buttons and all fan speeds worked.

What we did: Replaced the four lights and tested the rangehood. All lights and functions worked correctly.

Examples from individual jobs. Similar symptoms can have different causes; diagnosis confirms the repair required.

What We Repair

Appliance Services & Brands in the Inner South

All carried out at your home or property. Each service page covers common faults, costs and what to expect.

Microwaves, vacuums, air fryers and KitchenAid mixers are repaired at our Fyshwick workshop rather than in your home — see small appliance repairs. Running a business laundry? See commercial laundry repairs.

Brands

Recent Inner South jobs have included Samsung, Esatto, Smeg, Glem and Falmec appliances — and we work on most other brands sold in Australia, as long as parts are still available for the model.

As an authorised service agent, we also carry out warranty repairs in the Inner South homes for manufacturers including Fisher & Paykel, Franke, Hisense and Liebherr. View all brands we repair.

They work across the Inner South every week from our Fyshwick base, so there’s no separate “Inner South team” — just the same people who look after the rest of Canberra.

No. All of the Inner South is within about 30 minutes of our Fyshwick base, so there’s no travel fee and you can book online with live availability.

Yes. If your building has an intercom or secure entry, add a mobile number and any access instructions to your booking — if the buzzer isn’t reliable, say so and we’ll call on arrival. If we can’t get in or reach you, the visit has to be rebooked.

Often, yes. If a part has to be ordered, we book a return visit to fit it, with no second Service Call Fee — only minimum labour. If you already know which part your appliance needs, tell us when you book and we can order it ahead of the appointment.

No. Washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, dryers, ovens, cooktops and rangehoods are repaired in your home. Only portable appliances — microwaves, vacuums, air fryers and similar — come to our Fyshwick workshop, under our small appliance repair service.

Yes — mention it when you book. Integrated appliances take more care: a fridge with a full-height door panel can need two people to support the door while hinges are replaced, and a built-in dishwasher has to come out of its cavity for many repairs. We’ve found kick panels held by metal brackets, and others locked in by tile grout that has to be cut before the dishwasher can slide out. Where a panel could be damaged by removing it, a cabinet maker or handyman may need to do that part first. A dryer on a shelf above the washer also takes two people to lift down, so it helps to know in advance.

Yes. We repair appliances in rental properties across the Inner South on behalf of property managers, and arrange access with the tenant directly. See appliance repairs for property managers.
