From Our Job Notes

Repairs We’ve Carried Out in Queanbeyan

A few real jobs from Queanbeyan homes — what the customer noticed, what was actually wrong, and how it was fixed.

LG washing machine, Queanbeyan West

What the customer saw: The washing machine displayed OE and wouldn’t drain properly.

What we found: The drain pump was faulty. There were no blockages in the pump, drain line, filter or the hose between the drum and pump.

What we did: Replaced the drain pump and tested filling, washing, draining and spinning. The machine operated correctly with no leaks.

Westinghouse dishwasher, Tralee

What the customer saw: The dishwasher kept draining, then displayed F2.

What we found: Behind the side panel, the pressure switch had burnt out.

What we did: Replaced the diverter and pressure switch assembly, then ran a quick cycle and checked filling, washing, heating and draining. The dishwasher tested OK.

Electrolux heat pump dryer, Crestwood

What the customer saw: A regular thumping noise as the drum turned.

What we found: Both front drum guides were worn, and the belt tensioner pulley was cracked.

What we did: Replaced the drum guide wheels and tensioner pulley, then checked starting, spinning, heating and the timer. The dryer tested OK.

Whirlpool fridge, Royalla

What the customer saw: An intermittent noise from the fridge.

What we found: The noise was coming from the rear condenser fan. The internal fan and compressor checked OK.

What we did: Replaced the condenser fan and tested the fridge. The noise was gone and the fridge tested OK.

Domain oven, Carwoola

What the customer saw: The oven door wasn’t closing properly.

What we found: The door hinges needed replacing, and the door seal was worn.

What we did: Replaced the door hinges and seal, then tested the oven on fan-forced. The door closed properly and the oven tested OK.

Qasair rangehood, Wamboin

What the customer saw: The fan switch worked intermittently and sometimes sparked when switched on.

What we found: The fan switch was damaged and only worked when pressed down. The light switch and lights worked correctly.

What we did: Replaced the fan switch and tested the rangehood. The switch worked properly and the rangehood tested OK.

What We Repair

Appliance Services & Brands in Queanbeyan

All carried out at your home or property. Each service page covers common faults, costs and what to expect.

Microwaves, vacuums, air fryers and KitchenAid mixers are repaired at our Fyshwick workshop rather than in your home — see small appliance repairs. Running a business laundry? See commercial laundry repairs.

Brands

Recent Queanbeyan jobs have included LG, Westinghouse, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Domain and Qasair appliances — and we work on most other brands sold in Australia, as long as parts are still available for the model.

As an authorised service agent, we also carry out warranty repairs in Queanbeyan homes for manufacturers including Fisher & Paykel, Haier, Hisense, Franke, Technika and Artusi. View all brands we repair.

Qualified, and kept current

Our technicians include degree-qualified engineers, electronics specialists, electricians and holders of multiple Cert IV qualifications. They work across Queanbeyan every week from our Fyshwick base, so there’s no separate “Queanbeyan team” — just the same people who look after the rest of Canberra.

What Queanbeyan customers say

From our Google reviews, in the customers’ own words.

★★★★★

“Jess arrived at the exact time specified and waited for me to get home. She very quickly sorted the issue with my dishwasher and showed me how to check if the same issue occured in the future. I had also called to advise I would be a couple minutes later and both the receptionist and Jess were extremely polite, friendly and professional. Hopefully we won’t need their services again but if we do, we know who to call. Thank you Ginger Beard for the prompt professional service!”

Queanbeyan Appliance Repair Questions

Yes — Queanbeyan itself and the surrounding NSW suburbs and towns, from Jerrabomberra and Googong out to Bungendore, Wamboin, Carwoola and Royalla. See the travel question below for outlying rural addresses. The full list is under Do We Service Your Suburb?

Not for most addresses. Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong and the nearby suburbs are within about 30 minutes of our Fyshwick base, so there’s no travel fee and you can book online with live availability. Some outlying rural properties take longer to reach — including some addresses in Royalla and Williamsdale — depending on the exact address. Where the drive is more than 30 minutes, travel is charged at the labour rate for the time beyond the first 30 minutes, each way, and those visits are scheduled by our admin team rather than through online booking. If you’re not sure, call 02 6190 0457 and we’ll check your address. Full details are under Service Areas.

Yes. If your building has an intercom or secure entry, add a mobile number and any access instructions to your booking — if the buzzer isn’t reliable, say so and we’ll call on arrival. If we can’t get in or reach you, the visit has to be rebooked.

Often, yes. If a part has to be ordered, we book a return visit to fit it, with no second Service Call Fee — only minimum labour. If you already know which part your appliance needs, tell us when you book and we can order it ahead of the appointment.

No. Washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, dryers, ovens, cooktops and rangehoods are repaired in your home. Only portable appliances — microwaves, vacuums, air fryers and similar — come to our Fyshwick workshop, under our small appliance repair service.

Usually, but tell us when you book. To reach some rangehood parts the duct cover has to come off, and we’ve found covers siliconed to the ceiling or running up into the roof where removing them would damage the paint or plaster — in those cases a handyman may need to take it off first. If the rangehood’s power point is up in the roof space and isn’t supplying enough power, an electrician may need to check it.

Yes. We repair appliances in rental properties across Queanbeyan on behalf of property managers, and arrange access with the tenant directly. See appliance repairs for property managers.
