From Our Job Notes

Repairs We’ve Carried Out in Tuggeranong

A few real jobs from Tuggeranong homes — what the customer noticed, what was actually wrong, and how it was fixed.

Fisher & Paykel dishwasher, Bonython

What the customer saw: Water was leaking from both sides at the front, mainly on the right.

What we found: The lower and upper spray arms were split, and the middle spray arm was starting to split.

What we did: Replaced all three spray arms and raised the middle basket so a large plate wouldn’t obstruct it. The spray arms rotated, all functions worked and there were no leaks.

Dishlex dishwasher, Gordon

What the customer saw: Strange noises, a burning smell and smoke.

What we found: Sparking and smoke appeared when the wash pump started. The wash-pump capacitor was damaged.

What we did: Replaced the capacitor and tested the dishwasher, which then operated correctly.

Beko washing machine, Conder

What the customer saw: Loud squeaking and tapping noises.

What we found: Testing with washing in the drum traced the noise to the suspension rods.

What we did: Replaced the suspension rods and ran a cycle with washing in the drum. The machine filled, washed, drained and spun without abnormal noise.

Hisense washing machine, Greenway

What the customer saw: The washing machine would not spin.

What we found: The drain pump was failing under load. The drainage hoses were clear, and the motor and belt tested OK.

What we did: Replaced the drain pump and ran a test cycle. The machine filled, washed, drained and spun correctly.

Samsung fridge, Chisholm

What the customer saw: A loud noise from the freezer section.

What we found: The freezer fan was loose and rattling, and testing also found a faulty defrost element.

What we did: Replaced the freezer fan and defrost element, then tested the fridge, which tested OK.

Qasair rangehood, Wanniassa

What the customer saw: The rangehood motor worked intermittently, then stopped.

What we found: The motor would only start after being spun by hand, and it buzzed.

What we did: Replaced the motor assembly and tested the rangehood, confirming the motor worked correctly.

Examples from individual jobs. Similar symptoms can have different causes; diagnosis confirms the repair required.
