More Than Just a Gear Replacement
We repair and overhaul KitchenAid stand mixers at our Canberra workshop in Fyshwick. Most KitchenAid faults trace back to the gearbox — worn brushes, a stripped fuse gear, or old grease that has hardened and stopped protecting the gears. Swapping only the part that failed leaves the rest of that wear in place. The overhaul refurbishes the whole mechanism, so the mixer goes back to work properly rather than just running again.
It doesn't have to be broken first. An older mixer that still runs but has never been serviced can be booked in for the same overhaul as preventative maintenance — give your KitchenAid another lease on life before something fails mid-mix. This is one of the services available through our Fyshwick small appliance workshop.

What's Included
The $295 Standard Overhaul
One fixed price for a technician to properly refurbish your mixer — not a price for a bag of parts.
Always included
- Full strip-down of the mixer
- Full degrease of the gearbox, with all the old grease removed
- Metal gears, transmission, motor, bearings, planetary mechanism and wiring inspected for wear or damage
- New gearbox gasket
- Gearbox and planetary regreased with fresh commercial-quality food-grade grease
- Reassembly, speed test and adjustment
- Noise and mechanical check, and an electrical safety test
- Exterior wipe-down and a service report
Inspected and replaced if required
Included in the $295 price
- Fuse gear (sacrificial gear)
- Motor brushes — replaced if worn by more than 5mm
- Speed control plate — adjusted, and replaced if required
If any of these included wear parts need replacement, we'll replace them as part of the overhaul without contacting you for additional approval.

Is My Mixer Compatible?

The standard overhaul is built around KitchenAid's traditional mechanical design — a metal gearbox, carbon-brush motor and speed control plate — used across most classic tilt-head and bowl-lift stand mixers. It isn't available for every KitchenAid model.

Either way the overhaul costs $295 in total. If you book the overhaul directly and the strip-down shows the mixer needs more than it covers, we email you before any additional chargeable work, and if you choose not to proceed we can treat $110 of the overhaul price as the assessment charge rather than keeping the full amount.

After the Overhaul
Warranty & Turnaround
Turnaround Time
Typical turnaround is around one week, depending on current workshop workload and whether any additional parts are needed. We don't promise a fixed completion date — we'll email you if the mixer needs work outside the standard overhaul, and when it's ready to collect.
6-Month Overhaul Warranty
The overhaul carries a 6-month warranty covering the parts we replace and the workmanship carried out as part of the job. It doesn't cover unrelated components on an older mixer that weren't part of the overhaul, misuse, accidental damage or normal wear. This warranty is in addition to, and doesn't limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

- Register online before you arrive, or just bring the mixer in during drop-off hours — no appointment required either way.
- Payment is taken when you hand your mixer to staff.
- Every mixer must be physically handed to a staff member.
- Overhauls aren't started until the job is confirmed and payment received.
Please don't leave your mixer outside the workshop. Anything left unattended hasn't been registered or accepted for repair — it won't be monitored or protected, and may be exposed to weather, theft or removal by passing scrap collectors. GBRS can't accept responsibility for unattended items. This is separate from our policy for appliances we've already accepted that aren't collected — see our FAQ for that.
