From Our Job Records
What We’ve Found Diagnosing Franke Error Codes
These are codes from our own Franke jobs around Canberra and what we found when diagnosing them. Each of them has had more than one cause in our jobs, so diagnosis always comes first. If you have a code, tell us when you book — it helps us prepare for the visit.
| Code | Appliance | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| E3 | FCDW60SI and FCDW60FS dishwashers | Heating or washing complaints with different causes. In one dishwasher the wash pump motor had an open circuit, and replacing the pump and heater fixed it; in another a main board fault was suspected. Some E3s haven’t reproduced during a short test. |
| E4 | FCDW60SI and FCDW60FS dishwashers | A flood or float alert with several causes in our jobs: a leaking drain pump, two screws jamming the drain pump, and damaged float foam holding the float switch on. |
| E1 | FCDW60SI and FCDW60FS dishwashers | Water not getting in: a kinked inlet hose, or an Aquastop that wasn’t admitting water — in one case alongside a badly kinked hose and a broken connector. |
From Our Job Notes
Franke Repairs We’ve Carried Out
A few real Franke jobs from around Canberra — what the customer noticed, what was actually wrong, and how it was fixed.
Franke dishwasher, Griffith
What the customer saw: An E3 error and poor washing performance.
What we found: The wash pump was not starting after the dishwasher filled. Testing found an open circuit in one of the motor windings.
What we did: Replaced the wash pump and heater, then confirmed filling, washing, heating and draining, with no leaks during testing.
Franke dishwasher, Gungahlin
What the customer saw: Water collecting inside the dishwasher and overflowing outside it, which appeared to be a drainage problem.
What we found: The dishwasher drained correctly, but the Aquastop inlet valve was letting water enter even when the appliance was not being used.
What we did: Replaced the Aquastop assembly and tested a cycle. Confirmed correct filling, washing, heating and draining, with no leaks or unwanted water entering while idle.
Franke induction cooktop, Gungahlin
What the customer saw: The induction cooktop was switching off during use.
What we found: The repair required replacement of the touch display board and hob control module.
What we did: Fitted the replacement display board and hob module to complete the control-system repair.
Franke wall oven, Macgregor
What the customer saw: Broken oven door glass and hinges requiring replacement.
What we found: The inner glass and both door hinges needed replacing.
What we did: Replaced the inner door glass and both hinges.
Franke rangehood, Taylor
What the customer saw: The lights worked, but the fan did not extract air.
What we found: The motor hummed, and the blower had cracked and detached from the motor. The internal casing was also damaged.
What we did: Recommended replacement because of the internal damage, then returned to install the replacement rangehood and confirmed correct operation.
Franke built-in microwave, Canberra City
What the customer saw: The microwave’s lights worked, but it no longer heated food.
What we found: The fuse, fan and door safety switches tested correctly. Testing traced the heating fault to the magnetron and transformer.
What we did: Identified the parts required and gave a repair assessment, advising that replacement might be more economical.
